My First Class With Craftsy Is Live!

I'm so excited to share a little secret that I've been keeping for awhile!  I am a new instructor for Craftsy, one of the fastest growing educational sites and crafting communities on the web.
Craftsy provides such a great way to learn.  All of their classes are taught by video - which is especially great if you are a visual learner like I am.

I had such an amazing time creating classes with this company.  Everything that they do is top-notch & all of the people I worked with were wonderful.  They produce classes for a large variety of crafts (knitting, sewing, photography, cake decorating, etc.) and I'm excited that they have started expanding to include paper crafting classes.

My first class is called Classic Christmas Cards & the lessons are free with the purchase of the correlating kit.  (The class is 25% off right now!)
Here's a short video explaining a little more about the class:

I would love for you to join me!  You can find all of the details about the class here.

A Sale, A Card, & other Scrappy News!

Hello, hello!  I'm popping in to share a few fun things with you today.
First of all, there is an awesome sale going on at Two Peas right now!
The entire store is on sale, including workshops!  If you've been on the fence about signing up for my Journey Into Card Making workshop, now is a great time.  The online, self-paced class is only $9.60 this week!

There's also a new scrapbooking workshop available now by Jill Sprott called Scrapbooking from the Soul.  I just signed up myself!  Jill is AMAZING & this is a topic that I'm super excited about.  (Jill's class is only $9.60 this week too!)

I also picked up a few other things from the Two Peas sale.

This vintage grab bag looks perfect for documenting the upcoming school year!

I also picked up this new exclusive stamp set designed by Shimelle Laine for Two Peas.  It's perfect for my not-so-perfect life.  :)

I was excited today because my new Big Shot die cutter arrived today.  I had a Cuttlebug, but I *might* have broken it by trying to emboss things that have no business being embossed.  (Note to self:  wood veneer does not make a good impression in cardstock, no matter how hard you try to crank the knob of the die cutter.)

I needed a die cutter to to work with the new Letterpress tools that are coming from Studio Calico.  Have you seen the latest class?  Sign ups are going on now & you can find all of the exclusive plates + other tools here.

So, now that I have a functioning die cutter, I can finally use those cool metal dies from Lawn Fawn that I've been drooling over.  The dies match up perfectly with their stamps, making card making a cinch!  P.S. They're on sale at Two Peas this week too!
One of my favorite stamp sets right now from Lawn Fawn is their Critters in the Dog Park set.  There's a dog that looks similar to a French Bulldog in the set... but after I added a few extra lines & colored it in, it looked just like our Boston Terrier!  My son flipped.  He loves anything that resembles his best four-legged friend.

I used the Quinn's ABCs stamp/die combo for the sentiment.  Easy peasy!
The dog paws are also from the Critters set.  I just stamped them with Versamark & it worked perfectly with the black cardstock.

The heart 3x4 card & paper are from this month's Marks & Co kits from Studio Calico.  I used the exclusive stitching template in the Main Scrapbooking kit as a guide for hand-stitching the 3x4 card.

Thanks for taking a peek at my project & for visiting today!  Hope you have a good one!

Two Peas Gardeners' Digest - February

Welcome to the Gardeners' Digest - a monthly blog hop from the Two Peas In a Bucket Garden Girls!

You can begin the hop at the Two Peas blog.  If you've come from Paige Evans' blog, you're on the right track!

Make sure to check back on March 1st for the next Trendy Trios feature!  I've got some fun projects in the works & I can't wait to share what next month's trend is!

I am completely in awe of Corrie Jones' style!  I could just look at this page all day!  I love the way she mixes art & embellishments... and she knows how to really tell a story.

1.  The new Yes, Please collection (Amy Tangerine for American Crafts) just arrived at Two Peas!  One of my favorite pieces are these rub on transfers.  I used the camera (page 2 not shown) as a template to hand-stitch this card that I created for Shimelle's blog earlier this week.

2.  Farm Animals wood veneer by Studio Calico
There is so much to love about these new wood pieces!  Horses are so trendy right now & I love this preppy horse silhouette found in this set.  Of course, I'm a country girl & the goats, cows & chickens remind me of my childhood.  Makes me feel all warm & fuzzy inside.

3. Good Times stamp set by Mama Elephant
I love a good sentiment set & this one just tops them all!  I love the trendy sayings & fun fonts, not to mention the cute balloons & bow.

What's better than washi tape?  How about a washi page!?!  You can cut the strips apart & use them like traditional washi or die cut to create a fun multi-patterned embellishment.

5. The Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm collection
I am head-over-heels in love with this whole line.  The soft colors mixed with navy just make me giddy.  There are preppy horses in this collection too, which just rocks.  Make sure to check out the red polka dot vellum in this collection too.  Yum-o!

I am crazy excited about this workshop by Wilna Furstenberg!

You can learn all about her Art Class by clicking here.

One of you lucky ducks will win a free spot in this class by commenting on this post!  (Please leave your Two Peas username in the comment section.)  I'll draw a winner on March 1st.

*If you are the winner but have already signed up for the class, you can either chose to be refunded or you can gift the class to a friend!

From here, make your way to the next spot on the hop:

My New Workshop is Live!!! Journey Into Card Making

I can't tell you how excited I am to announce that I have a new online card making workshop at Two Peas In a Bucket!  This has been something I've been wanting to do for a long time & can't believe the day is finally here.  :)

I've poured my heart into this project & I hope you really enjoy it!

Whether you’re a seasoned card maker or have yet to make your first card, this workshop will take you on a journey to create handmade cards that your friends & loved ones will cherish.
I’ll start out by teaching you card making basics; you will create a card organizer  (complete with printable patterns & files you can use with your Silhouette) to file away all the new cards you'll be designing!  You'll then travel on to gain greater design skills.  You’ll dive into design principles and learn how to create an eye pleasing design.  You’ll learn all about composition & balance in a way that will take your cards from good to great!

Become adventurous and explore some of the hottest trends in paper crafting!  In this workshop, you’ll also learn how to incorporate colors in your projects & how to create cards in several unique styles.

Included in this workshop are over 30 brand-new card samples.  The three chapters contain a printable PDF for a total of over 40 pages, and 80 minutes of coordinating video tutorials.  My talented contributors include card makers Laura Bassen & Michelle Wooderson.

At the end of this journey, you’ll find a BONUS chapter filled with souvenirs!  Create a trendy card set with the card making kit designed by Marcy Penner of Hello Forever.  The kit will be available for download as a PDF and as a cutting file you can use with your Silhouette machine.

The content of this workshop will be available immediately upon purchase. The lessons are available for you to work at your own pace and upon purchase can be accessed in the "Workshops" section under "Classes & Events." A private message board forum is also available to ask questions and to connect with other participants.  Enjoy!

The cost of the class is $12 and can be purchased here:
Journey Into Card Making

*** Please Note:  For those of you who have asked, you do NOT have to own a Silhouette to use the bonus material.  The materials are available as a PDF for those who don't own the die cutter & as free Silhouette files for those who do.  It's the best of both worlds.  :)

Congratulations, Renee!

And... something I'm really excited about:
I am one of the contributors for the upcoming Silhouette class by Studio Calico!
Here is the class description:
It's time to CUT IT OUT. You already know that your Silhouette is a pretty amazing machine, and Susan Weinroth wants to help you put it to work on your pages and cards. In this self paced class, we'll be exploring a handful of basic techniques and fun cutting materials, but the real focus of the class is helping you make your Silhouette an integral part of your projects. Susan is joined by a talented group of contributors (Ali Edwards, Nichol Magourik, Lisa Dickinson, Jen Gallacher, Lexi Bridges, Robyn Werlich, Becky Novacek, Sasha Farina, Rebecca Trump, Shanna Noel, Julie Campbell, Lilith Eeckels, and Nicole Harper) and they will be showing you step by step just how they make using their Silhouette a part of their design process. The PDFs will contain 20 layouts, 3 cards, and a countless number of tips that will leave you inspired and ready to CUT IT OUT on your next project!
This class is sponsored by Silhouette America, and every student will receive a $10 download card to the Silhouette Online Store. We've also put together a collection of cool exclusive cuts from Studio Calico, Ali Edwards, and Kerri Bradford Studio and a printable PDF of journaling cards and accents.
If you don't own a Silhouette, Studio Calico is offering a Cameo bundle special for a limited time.  I can honestly say, you will never regret purchasing this die cutting machine.  It's amazing.
Registration for Cut It Out closes on October 31st & class begins November 1st.  I'm so excited about this class & hope you join me!  You can sign up for the self-paced class HERE.

Two Peas Gardeners' Digest: July Edition

Welcome to the Gardeners' Digest, a monthly update from the Garden Girls, the design team at Two Peas In a Bucket!
Need a fun way to package up a gift card?  In this week's Finally Friday video, I show you how you can create a fun flip card that also doubles as a gift card holder.

I'll be using some pages from one of Amy Tangerine's Daybooks.  The pages are easy to separate & you can use the remainder of the book to create a summer mini book or travel journal!

In the video, I'll show you some new ways to use washi tape. I'll also be utilizing glassine bags to create some unique packaging.

This Seasoned Traveler layout by Anabelle O'malley:

I just love everything about this page!  The Silhouette die-cuts... the pops of amazing color - it's all just utter eye candy!

InLinkz.com
1. Basic Grey Clippings Garland: The new Clippings collection is fantastic & this is one of my favorite pieces!  The page is full of stitched banner pieces.  It's one of those things that looks even 100x's cooler in person.  :)

2.  Lisa's Truesdell's online Divide & Conquer Workshop: I just took this workshop & can't rave on it enough!  It's perfect for those who have a collection of memorabilia & photos from a trip or event & want a creative & easy way to document it all.  She gives so many great tips & her tutorials are very easy to follow.  And... for only $12, it's a steal!  I just ordered my Simple Stories album & am ready to create a mini book from our vacation this summer.

3.  Hello Forever Journaling Cards: If you haven't taken a look at the Two Peas digital shop lately, make sure to check out all of the printable journaling cards that are available.  They're perfect for Project Life & even make great focal points for cards.

4.  Whisker Graphics Envelopes:  I used a couple of these glassine envelopes in my Finally Friday video (above) & use them all the time in my PL album as well.  (They're all only $0.25 each!)  The smaller ones are the perfect size for gift cards or journaling cards & the larger ones make great card envelopes or gift packaging.

5. Crate Paper's Little Boy Blue Collection: The classic patterns & sweet colors in this collection are made for so much more than baby projects!  I have been using the paper over & over for all-occasion cards.  The colors are so cheerful & I love the primary palate of blue, red & green.

Today, I have TWO giveaways for two of my lovely blog visitors.  To be eligible to win one of these prizes, leave a comment on this post.  I'll draw a winner on Saturday, July 28th.  (Make sure to leave your Two Peas user name in your comment so that the class can be added to your account.)
