Lawn Fawn Inspiration Day #1: Winter Fox

Today begins Lawn Fawn's Inspiration week!  The design team will be featuring stamp sets from the fall/winter release.... and the great thing is, they're already available for purchase!

Today we're featuring the set Winter Fox.  This is such an adorable mini set!  The mini sets are great because they're super cute & they're also super inexpensive!  (I just checked & there are still a few of these sets available at Two Peas for only $3.99!)

I don't know if Miss Foxy is actually drinking coffee or hot cocoa... but here in the Campbell household, coffee is king.  So... I HAD to make a little coffee themed card.  I included a gift card from Cinnabon, but a Starbucks card would be great to include for the holidays (or anytime!)

Making a gift card holder from a parcel tag is easy peasy!  Just stitch along 3 sides & you're good to go!

Make sure to check out the Lawn Fawn blog for your chance to win all of the sets featured this week!  The Lawn Fawn girls each have some inspiration on their blogs today, so make sure to click on their links as well.  :)

A New Video Tutorial! Button Cards, Seed Packets, & Wrinkly Ribbon

Happy Hip Hop Thursday, my peeps!  Today I have a fun little project for you and a video tutorial!!!  Have you seen the fun wrinkly ribbon/cabbage ribbon that's really popular right now?  I'm going to show you a SUPER easy way to make it yourself.  But... first of all, I wanted to show you a peek at Unity's September Kit of the Month.  Oh MyLanta!  It could seriously be the best one yet!

So... back to my little project!  I wanted to make a cute 'sewing themed' embellishment (because we crafters all know that anything 'sewing themed' is HOT right now!)... and that little idea lead to this:

This is a super simple 'seed packet' envelope that I made with a button card on the front.  I made mine to be used as a gift insert, but you could also use it as an embellishment for a scrapbooking layout... or focal point on a card.  This would also make THE perfect gift card envelope!  This awesome stamp comes from Unity's Le Chic set (available in stores only).

I have a couple of PDF files available for you so that you could print your own pattern for the envelope.

And here is a video tutorial so that you can see it all step by step:

Denver or Bust!

Wow! I was going through my archives and found this gift card holder that I made MONTHS ago & forgot to share it with you. My sister (Jenna) has a friend who recently got married. For her wedding gift, Jenna wanted me to make a gift card holder with their honeymoon theme... Denver. How's that for specific? Oh! And... she told me this 30 minutes before she was suppose to leave for the wedding. Yikes!

At that time, Cosmo Cricket's Mr. Campy line had just hit the shelves, & it worked perfectly for the "Denver" theme! I used some thread and beads to make 'cans' coming off of the back of their get-away car. :)

I don't know if they're still in production or not, but I've been hanging onto these Karen Foster Snap stamps... which are just the think for writing those obscure sentiments.

And... here is the card in it's open state:

Super easy & cute! :)

I'll be back soon with some Blog Candy!!! I just noticed that my Hit Counter is over 100K! Yeah!!!! Thank you guys so much for coming and visiting my blog!!! I really appreciate it!

Beacon of Hope

Today I wanted to show you a new stamp set called Beacon of Hope. This is the first of many sets to come in Cornish Heritage Farms' new Scene It Collection. Basically -- it's jammed packed full of images that can work together to create a scene. I really love these images... and REALLY love the sentiments included too! Here's where you can find the set.

As I've mentioned before, I make cards for all of our new visitors at church to welcome them. My eyes just about popped out when I saw the "journey" sentiment in this set! (Our church is called the Journey) Here are a couple of gift card holders/cards that I made:

The Copic Airbrush system is soooo handy! I just zipped through these cards! Easy Peasy!

And here's the inside of my gift card holder (below). I've seen these all over the place lately, and I'm not sure who to give credit to! Basically, it's just a 'w' fold. I sewed 3 of the edges and cut a slit for the gift card to slide into.

I really loved this quote in the set (below)! I though it would be fun to pair it up with this cute image from Unity (So & So Loves...). I used my Wood grain backgrounder on Kraft cardstock & then sponged with Distress Ink. Doesn't it look so real? I just got that backgrounder in my last order & am falling IN LOVE with it! :)

Gift Card Tutorial

I made a gift card holder earlier this summer and promised to get a tutorial posted.... and FINALLY have it finished! :) I'm making these cards for new members at our church to welcome them and my pastor bought little gift cards for me to include. I'm not sure who originated this style of gift card holder - but it's not my original idea. I've seen several different versions here and there and just adapted them to fit what I needed.

What you'll need:

  • 1 piece of solid cardstock (4.25" x 11")
  • printed paper (4" x 4" & 4" x 1.75")
  • scalloped oval accessory cardstock
  • ribbon
  • Word Window punch by Stampin' Up! (or any punch that can make a slit)
  • corner rounder punch
Step 1: Score cardstock at 4.25" & 9".

Step 2: Create a slot big enough to hold your gift card. Slide your punch as far as you can onto the
cardstock and punch. Move across cardstock and punch a second time, widening your slot. (sounds confusing... but just look at the picture for a visual) :)

Step 3: Round the corners of your smaller piece of printed paper AND the edge of
cardstock. (see above) Adhere.

Step 4: Place adhesive ONLY on the outer edges of your 4" square printed paper. If you put adhesive in the middle, your slot will no longer make a pocket because it could get glued shut. :) (ask me how I know this one!) Adhere.

Step 5: Using a tape runner, apply a line of adhesive on the back side of the gift card holder. Do NOT apply adhesive over the 4" square piece of patterned paper. (see above) Place ribbon over adhesive, giving yourself enough of a 'tail' at both ends to tie.

Step 6: Heat emboss image onto scalloped
cardstock. Apply to card front.

Step 7: Stamp or embellish inside of card as you like. The gift card will slide easily into the slotted pocket that you have created (the back side of my printed paper is blue polka dotted). :)Step 8: Tie ribbon to close. And... Voila!

A Welcome Dove

My pastor approached me the other day and wanted to know if I would be interested in making 'welcome' cards for new visitors to the church. He said that really liked how home-made cards were so much more meaningful than a Hallmark card... and wanted to include a small gift card in the inside. I told him that he was speaking my language! Sign me UP!

I saw some similar ideas on Splitcoast and needed something REALLY simple and came up with my version of this gift card holder. The ribbon unties to open the card.
