I'm Cuckoo For Unity!!!

Wow! I can't believe that May is right around the corner & this is my last Hip Hop as a Guest Designer for Unity. :( I have had a BLAST & have fallen head over heels in love with this company! A few weeks ago, I asked Angela if she could come up with a 'folk' set & begged for a cuckoo clock. And.... guess what?!?

I know it's Unity's birthday this week, but I felt like it was MY birthday when I first saw this set! I really think the cuckoo clock image is going to be popping up everywhere before long. And... folk design is HOT right now! That's my trend watching forecast. :) I hope you love it as much as I do! And.... it's releasing TODAY! So make sure you find your way over to the Unity Blog to hear all about it. There are FOUR new sets releasing today, and I think you're really going to love what you see!

And, as an added surprise, one of you will be receiving a FREE STAMP from Unity! You've made it to the end of the blog hop... so leave a comment on this post and I will pick a random winner tonight to receive 'Love is Everything'!!!

Stamp: Folk Inspiration (Unity Stamp Co.)
Paper: Bungle Jungle line (Sassafras)
Rub-on: (Melissa Frances)

It's always interesting when you have to step out of your own comfort zone. Sometimes that's when the most amazing artwork is created.I would love the chance to win this set of stamps. It's been great seeing everything you've done this month as guest designer for Unity.

Day 2 of the Unity Celebration!

Hooray! Today is the second day of the week long Unity Celebration! There are lots of fun things going on this week, so make sure to check out the Unity Blog & Splitcoast forum for more information!

Today, I want to show you a sneak peek at another image & sentiment from Unity's May Kit of the Month! These are my FAVORITE stamps in the kit... although the more I look at the other images... the more I fall in love! It's good, let me tell you! :)

This is also for Christi's Challenge of the day - using the acronym "FIRST" for Unity's 1st Birthday! (You can only use Unity stamps for this challenge)

F- (flowers)
I - (insect)
R- (ribbon)
S- (scallops)
T- (turquoise &/or teal)

I used some of my coveted Girl Friday paper from Cosmo Cricket. If you look closely, you'll see my 'F'lowers & 'I'nsects hiding in the orange sky. The scalloped ribbon gave me my 'R' & 'S'.... AND this cute lined paper covered my 'T' with both teal & turquoise. :)

It was a really fun challenge! (Thanks, Christi!!!) Make sure you play along! There are some UNBELIEVABLE prizes to be had!!!

A New Sketch, More Unity Fun & Blog Candy!!!

Hey everyone! I have a lot to share with you today! This is my last week as a Guest Designer for Unity... and I'm going out with a bang! Unity is celebrating it's 1st Birthday, & it's going to be a FUN week for you Unity fans!!! :) There are challenges and sneak peeks every day. Today's challenge comes from by friend, Jen Buck! Create a Unity project using the colors: Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Ruby Red & Kraft. Well.... my Stampin' Up days are long gone, so I had to substitute with some PTI & Core'dinations. You will definitely want to participate in the challenges because there will be HUGE prizes given away!!! Read more on the Unity Blog!

With school's end being only a few short weeks away, I wanted to make a card for Eli's teacher, thanking her for making this year SO wonderful for all of us! I used Unity's 'School Rock Star' set along with the apple from the 'Mix Up of Cuteness' set. The gingham ribbon is from Sharon's Ribbon Shop.

Here is the same apple image etched into a glass votive holder that I found at the Dollar Store. You can find great instructions for this technique HERE on Splitcoast. I would recommend leaving the etching solution on for much longer though (I left mine on for 25 minutes). Otherwise, you'll barely get any effect at all.

And.... here is this week's 2 Sketches 4 You sketch of the week!

This week's sponsor was Norsk Stempelblad. (Say that 3 times fast.)

I have to say, these images were way out of my comfort zone... but it was a good stretch of my creative skills. ;) I have one of these sets to give away this week to one of my readers. So... if you would like to have the stamp set above, please let me know in your comment. (US readers only, please.)
I used papers from SEI's Oasis line & a sentiment from Stampendous' Sassy Silhouettes set for my card.

Have a great week!!!

Matryoshka Carry-All

I'm super excited today because I want to share a little project that I've been working on! As I mentioned before, I found the company 'My Cute Stamps' when I was on a search for more Matryoshka doll images. As soon as I saw the set... I knew it was exactly what I had been looking for. There are so many CUTE images & sentiments... and the entire set is only $7.99! Yes! I kid you not! LOL! The stamps are clear and made of really high quality material. If you're use to stamping with clear images from companies like PTI, I think you'll find these stamps to be very comparable.

I started by printing off Lauren Meader's 'From the Desk of' template (My Timeless Templates) and doubling it to make a wide carry-all. One side holds a note pad, Post-it pad, & magnet set... and the other holds a set of 3 coordinating cards & envelopes.

I added a chipboard handle, securing it with a couple of brads. This YUMMY folk paper is by Pink Paislee ("beautiful" - Captivating line).

Aren't these girls CUTE?!?

This is the altered notebook and Post-it pad I made. (above)

And... here is the back of the carry-all, holding a few little cards I made.

Here's a close up of the tag I clipped on. I LOVE the Scandinavian folk bird image in the set!

Here is a little magnet box that I made by altering a nugget tin. I adhered clear marbles (found in the floral section of your local craft store) to my stamped images using Glossy Accents & then adhered magnets to the back.

The large paper clip above can be used as a bookmark or magnet. (I found a box of these clips at Walmart in the office supply area.) I just tied on a few buttons and secured everything with a little more Glossy Accents.

And now... onto the cards. I just got some of the BEST ribbon from Sharon Johnson's Stamp Simply Ribbon Store! If you love ribbon, you really should take a look! Yum-O! (The layout for this card comes from my buddy Lori's Weekend Sketch #77.)

I made this one using some of Sharon's ribbon & a page from an old Dictionary. The scalloped edge on top is embroidered.

And... here is my last card. I really loved the combo of papers & the soft colors. :) (Paper: blue- K & Company's Amy Butler Lotus Tea Box; yellow- Scenic Route Laurel, River Walk) (The layout for this card came from my buddy Carole's TCP Tuesday #55 Sketch Challenge.)

It's a Hip-Hop Birthday Celebration!!!

It's another fun day of Hip Hop with the Unity crew! And... the girls are gearing up for a BIG birthday celebration! Unity's birthday is right around the corner, so get ready for a big party April 27th - May 2nd!!! :) Everyone made something 'birthday themed' as part of the pre-celebration, so have fun making your way through the Hop. :) As usual, Angela will post all of this week's news, specials & maybe a few surprises on the Unity Blog.

One thing that I really want to tell you about is an AWESOME new site called "My Unity Place"! This is a website jam-packed full of all things Unity! (galleries, chat forums, videos, tutorials, etc.) Make sure to check it out!

I made a couple of cards this week using images from Unity's Whimsical Birthday set, along with sentiments from April's Kit of the Month.

I added Glossy Accents to the balloons - so they're really shiny and slick in real life. My generic point and click camera just can't pick up details too well. :)

My husband's birthday was this week... so I told him to pick one of these cards and pretend like it was his. He doesn't actually get to KEEP the cards I make for him. I like to save my homemade cards for people who will actually look at the card for more than 2 seconds. LOL! I didn't even write anything on the inside. He's good with it. It works well for both of us. :)

Are you ready for some more Hip Hop fun? Make your way over to see:

Thinking of You

It's time for another Jiffy challenge with some of my favorite stamping buddies! :) This month, I chose the image 'Day Dreamer' from Sugar Nellie for the team to use... and Alli picked some fun Spring-filled paper by Jillibean Soup! Since neither of us discuss our choices before-hand... I discovered the combination of the two was a little tricky to pull off! But... in the end, I kind of like how it all turned out. The curvy sentiment is part of April's Kit of the Month from Unity. I added a piece of acetate to my window to make it look more realistic... but it's hard to see in the photo. You'll just have to take my word for it. :)

Exciting News!

Good morning everyone! :) I am super excited to share my newest crafting venture! I am part of the first design team for My Cute Stamps!!! I found out about this company when I was on the search for Matryoshka doll stamps. (They have THE cutest nesting doll stamps!!!) And... as I was looking around the online shop, I couldn't believe I'd never heard of this company before! They definitely named their stamp line correctly... because their stamps are SO CUTE! A few weeks later, they posted a DT call & I jumped on the opportunity! I can't wait to get to 'work' and show you some of these fresh, new, SUPER trendy images!

Here is a card I made a couple of weeks ago using My Cute Stamps' Sweet Kawaii set. (The 7 piece set is only $7.99, btw!!!) I LOVE the Japanese Kawaii-style images. There's just something about those faces that I can't resist!

And yes, that is yet another piece of denim from my son's worn out jeans popping through the window on my card front. :) The little piece of pumpkin pie is covered in a Clear Candy Sticker by A Muse. The sentiment is by Kim Hughes & the orange paper is from the Marrakech line by Basic Grey.

Thanks for coming to visit and sharing in my happy news! :)

Monday Mania

Wow! I can't believe it's Monday already! (I think I say this every week.) I've got a fun new sketch to show you from 2 Sketches 4 You & a little more Unity goodness too. Angela will have a project of mine posted on the Unity Blog today too, so make sure to check over there if you'd like to see more. :)

First up... here is this week's sketch by Laura!

Our sponsor this week (Wicked Princess) gave us some beautiful Bittersweet paper and cute little stamps from Technique Tuesday to work with... along with some fun Pixie Stix glitter from Pink Paislee (LOVE this stuff!). I added a chipboard heart from Cosmo Cricket & gave it some color with some Distress Stickles by Ranger.

And... here's a card I made using these fun butterfly flowers from Unity's April Kit. I stamped them onto some fun newsprint ("Norm's News" by October Afternoon) and added Kaiser pearls to the centers. The sentiment is from the "Thank You Words" kit. I REALLY love this set! It seems like half of the cards I send out are "thank you" themed. The red floral paper is by Lilly Bee ("Paris" - French Couture line) & the brown scalloped paper is from the Lemon Grass line by Crate Paper, called "Brown Sugar".

Thanks for coming to visit today! I've got some fun news to share soon too! I can't wait to spill the beans! :)

Keeping Me Hoppin'

Wow! I can't believe it's Thursday already! These Unity girls have been keeping me hopping... but I've loved every minute of it. I'm glad you've found your way to my blog! I'll post the next spot on the Blog Hop at the bottom of this post. :)

First up, I wanted to show you a little card I made featuring one of the sentiments from the new Birdie Inspiration set. Honestly, seeing this sentiment was what initially 'sold' me on this set... and I knew I had to have it! My life is in a place right now where I have to remember that God is at work in my life... even when I can't see what He's up to. :) (Daniel 10: 10-14)

Below is a card I made using this fun & funky tree from Unity's April KOM (Fresh Beginnings). I stamped the image initially onto patterned paper and cut out each branch to paper piece it onto my card front. I wish it wasn't so cloudy here today b/c I can't get a good photo... but I really loved how the colors turned out irl. The green is a very retro, yellow-green... and I love pairing it with black and deep orange-red. Yum-O! :)

And, finally... I've been having a lot of fun working with fabric again... so I decided to make a coordinating potholder to go with the card above. :) I don't have great sewing skills.... so thankfully, these are SUPER easy to make!

I can't wait to see what AWESOME Unity Specials are going on today! :) Make sure to make your way to the next spot on the hop:

More Unity Goodness

It's Monday... and that means I get to show you some more Unity projects that I've been working on! Make sure to check out Unity's blog to see more of what I've been up to. I made a couple of projects that I really love... and hope you will too! :) This is my second post for today, so make sure to scroll through if you'd like to see more.

First up... I'd like to show you a card I made using Unity's Floral Frenzy stamp. This image is perfect for coloring... but I'd love to try paper piecing it sometime too! I highlighted sections of the image with orange glitter (click on picture to see a close up, if you'd like) & it ended up matching my ribbon perfectly! Love it when that happens! :)

Here is a project that I've been wanting to do for awhile. I hate it when I'm cooking, trying to read a recipe, and end up getting food all over the recipe card! I've had these ginormous clothespins from Creative Imaginations forever... and I finally put them to use!

The cute little cherry image is from the Mix Up of Cuteness set & the "family recipe" words come from the Fall Festival set. I used some of my favorite Jenni Bowlin papers & kind of like the purple leaves. Usually I'm a purple-hater... but it's starting to really grow on me. :) Oh! I just noticed that I used purple on my card too! Yikes!

Thanks so much for coming by to check out my crafties! :)

2 Sketches 4 You - 1st Birthday

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter! I have 2 posts for today, so make sure to scroll through if you'd like to see more. :)

Today's 2 Sketches 4 You sketch is sponsored by DeNami Design. Make sure to play along this week to win some great Nami stamps of your own! Here's this week's layout:

I love this sketch! It's nice and simple... and something I could see myself coming back to over & over. Today, I used some fun Sassafras paper backed by dark denim fabric. You can buy this style of denim at your local fabric store and it's really inexpensive! I bought it for a sewing project and had some scraps... so I thought I'd use it in place of cardstock on my project today.
The number "1" is actually the letter "i" (dot omitted) from my pack of buck naked chipboard alpha buttons from Cosmo Cricket. I covered it in bright yellow glitter and tied a strip of denim in the button holes. The sentiment is by DeNami. Make sure to check out the 2 Sketches blog today to see what fun projects the other designers came up with this week! :)

Happy Easter!

I just wanted to wish everyone a wonderful Easter! :) Of course... I love all of the fun and excitement of egg hunts, chocolate, and yummy Easter dinner --- but, I also want to remember the real reason why we celebrate. It is so awesome to have a relationship with a LIVING God! I'm so thankful for what Jesus did for me (and all of us). Be blessed this Easter holiday! :)

There's More than Corn in Indiana.

For those of you who are Indiana natives -- you might remember that slogan from a long time ago. (I'm getting old!) Well... I found out last night that there really IS more than corn in Indiana! I met up with two awesome gals last night at Archivers for a little craft time away from the kids. :) Do you recognize these sweet little faces? I got to meet Kimber for the first time last night... and MAN does this girl have talent! And... that's little Miss Jen Buck on the right. I met Jennifer for the first time last year at CHA & FINALLY got to stamp with her! We've decided that WE'RE going to write a book. We're calling it... 'Stamping Secrets'. Kimber doesn't think it's going to be a hot seller... but I'm feeling confident. ;) (Kimber just so happened to write a book called 'Scrapbook Secrets'. I'm pretty sure that she stole the idea from me.)

I've never been to a 'crop' before... and I don't scrapbook. -- So, it was an interesting experience. Instead... I attempted to make some cards. My mojo had kicked the bucket and I wasn't too productive... but I did manage to make this little guy: The little owl is from Unity's Mix Up of Cuteness set. Kimber was nice enough to give me a Jillibean Soup Journaling Sprout to put behind him. The sentiment and stitching are rub-ons from American Craft's Craft Fair line. AND... that funky retro floral paper is one of my new favorites from Sassafras. Yum-o! Hope you're having a great weekend! Have a wonderful Easter! God Bless! :)
