Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking Magazine Blog Hop

Hello & welcome to the Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking magazine farewell blog hop!  This is a HUGE amazing collaboration between over 200 paper crafters around the globe to celebrate & share memories of one of the biggest crafting publications in the industry.

You can find the full list of participants at the end of this post.  Just to keep you on track, you should have come from Lydia Fiedler's blog.  Your next stop will be Lea Lawson's blog.

Here is a card I made for all of the people who made up PC&S:

You might be wondering why so many people have come together to say goodbye to a magazine.  The truth is, it was never just a magazine.  Paper Crafts has meant SO much to so many.  This magazine changed the course of my life.  It inspired a hobby that lead to a profession.  It pushed me, inspired me, and encouraged me along the way.  I have made so many lasting relationships - true friendships - because of this publication.  Doors have been opened over the years & it's been a true blessing to have been a part of it.

For me, it all started in 2007 when I received an email saying that I would be published for the very first time.  You can read my original blog post here.

A few years later, this happened:
Over the years, I got the opportunity to travel across the country & meet people like this:

There are just so many memories & I'm just so thankful for the time we had.  Love you PC&S!!!

Closing A Chapter...

It's hard to believe, but nearly two years ago I made the announcement that I had been selected to join Paper Crafts Magazine as one of their Go-to Gals.  It's a day I will remember for the rest of my life.  (You can read my initial post here.)

These past two years have been incredible!  I've learned so much & have made memories that I'll cherish forever.  But more than anything, I treasure these past two years because of these girls.  This is the very first moment we all met.  (Teri's flight hadn't arrived yet for this photo.) ;)

This group just clicked from day #1.  Every one of the GTGs are genuine, kind-hearted, & their talent amazes me!

Soon I got to meet the rest of the crew & my heart swelled even more.  The whole Paper Crafts crew just rocks!  I have so much respect for them as individuals & for how hard they work each & every day to contribute to this industry that I love.  They spoiled us from the very beginning... and as a mom, it's such a treat (and kind of a shock) for someone else to take care of you for a change.

I loved our trips to Utah & I'll never forget all the fun that we had.  Susan's Paper Crafts cheer is still stuck in my head.  lol!

I got to travel to CHA & hang out with people who actually get my crazy obsession for paper & scrappy goodies.  It's always wonderful when you spend time with people & realize they're even more awesome than they seemed online. ;)

I also got to tour some amazing scrapbooking manufacturers' headquarters... like Stampin' Up!, Doodlebug Design & American Crafts.  The girls made me pose like that below.  It's not in my nature.  (You can't see it, but Teri has a gun behind my back.)

I kid, I kid! ;)

I also got to go to Disney for the first time in my life while at CHA.  Don't tell my kids that I went without them!  ;)

These are just a fraction of some of my favorite memories as a Go-to Gal.

But... as time goes on, new dreams are formed.  If you peeked into my craft space, you would find this print on display.  I guess you could say that this is my mantra:

In a few months, I'll be closing this chapter in my life.  Saying goodbye to Paper Crafts is bittersweet.  Most of all, I'm going to miss spending time with these beautiful faces that I've posted above.  But... the great thing is, I've created lasting friendships & that doesn't end just because my role is changing.

I look forward to seeing what life holds before me.  I have so many plans & ideas & I can't wait to see how the future unfolds.

I remember how I felt when I received that first phone call, letting me know that I had been selected.  In fact, it's one of the few phone messages I have saved. ;)  I know that someone else will now get that same opportunity & I'm so excited about that.  I'm ready to pass that torch on.  Knowing that my end is someone else's new beginning is an awesome feeling.  Thank you, Paper Crafts, for believing in me & for a great experience.  xoxo

Happy World Card Making Day!  World Card Making Day is a holiday especially for card makers around the world to kick off the holiday card-making season.

I'm guest blogging today for Creating Keepsakes on how to stretch your supplies (especially during the holidays.)  I'd love for you to check it out!  There just *might* be a fun giveaway to help you get started on your own holiday projects.

Here are a couple of holiday cards I made where I've stretched my supplies.  Neither of these card actually uses any Christmas/holiday product, but you'd never guess just by looking!  I have lots of tips on the CK blog to help you do the same.

Go-to Gals Blog Hop: Holiday Photo Inspiration & Video Tutorial

The Go-to Gals from Paper Crafts Magazine are joining together today for a fun Holiday Photo Inspiration blog hop!

Have you seen the new Holiday Cards & More special issue?!?  It's PACKED with awesome holiday cards, packaging ideas, gifts, tags & more!  One of my favorite sections in this issue was the photo card section.  I love giving & receiving Christmas cards with family photos, and there are so many clever ideas included in this publication.

I created a card using an Instaframe (a Polaroid-like die cut by Heidi Swapp) to frame a photo of my youngest son in this issue.  But... cards are not the only way to incorporate family photos this holiday season.

I thought it would be fun to take this same idea & incorporate it onto a gift bag.  There's no mistaking who this present belongs to!

I made this Polaroid frame die cut using my Silhouette.  They are easy to make & I love welding text inside the frame as well.
I love stretching my supplies & using non-holiday product during the Christmas season.  Even though this Echo Park collection doesn't consist of traditional Christmas colors, I think it really works!  The die cut snowflake border transformed the paper into something really festive.

Would you like to see how to create your own Polaroid frames?  I created a video tutorial below:

Make sure to visit each of the Go-to Gals' blogs today as well as the Paper Crafts Connection blog to see even more photo inspiration!
