Today is a day that I will probably remember for the rest of my life.
Have you ever sent a prayer up and wondered if it would ever really be heard? I know sometimes I've wondered. I mean, there are billions of people in the world & tragedies around every corner. Sometimes I've wondered if my prayers were so insignificant that I was wasting God's time... pulling his focus from something that really mattered.
Time and time again, I'm reminded of how much I underestimate God's love. (If you've been a follower of my blog for a while, you might have read about some of my story here.) Today is proof, once again, that God really does care about our everyday lives... and the things that we hold in our hearts are not insignificant to Him.
So... let me rewind just a little bit. This part of my story started many years ago when a group of my crafty friends & I were chatting about our ambitions and dreams. I told them that my biggest dream would be to work for Paper Crafts Magazine... but still be able to create. At the time, I'm sure it sounded completely absurd. I'm glad they didn't laugh at me (at least not in front of my face.) ;) I just tucked my dream inside my heart, where it stayed for a really long time.
Fast forward a couple of years. :) When I designed my blog, I decided to tuck a little verse up in the corner of my header. (Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4) I had almost forgotten about it until a few months ago when I received a card in the mail from a familiar return address. I opened it up (expecting to find a Christmas card) and my eyes just about popped out of my head! It was a message from Paper Crafts Magazine, asking me if I would like to 'audition' for a position as a Go-to Gal (which is basically a role as a contributing editor.)
A few weeks ago, I received a phone call from the editors of the magazine and they told me that I had made the cut! I can't remember much more about the phone call & the rest was mostly a blur. I just remember my heart sending up a quick little prayer saying, "Seriously?!? God... you heard me??? Out of all the billions of important prayers that are said around the world, you cared about my one little dream?" I'm not going to lie. I cried. ;) I still tear up when I think about it.
Am I more talented than other people with dreams like this? Absolutely not. I know that I have been blessed. Thank you so much to all of you who have supported & inspired me over the years. My prayer is that your dreams come true one day too. :)

For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. . . . If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!”

I've seen this in my own life and in the lives of those around me. I'm going to wiggle my way into some part of the editorial board meeting so I can finally meet you in person. Congratulations...you're going to be fantastic!
