New From Studio Calico + Awesome Discounts!

The new kits are here!  The new kits are here!  (I'm singing this in my best 'Oprah' biggest giveaway voice.)  Poet Society is full of awesome colors & unique embellishments.  I can't wait for you to check it all out!
And... for a limited time, you can get $10 off any Studio Calico Main Kit!  (Scrapbook, Project Life® or Card kit) Chose from a Poet Society kit or any past kit.

One of my favorite add-on kits is Whitman.  I made sure to hold my eyelids open with toothpicks until reveal time because I had to have it! A while back, I suggested to the Studio Calico gurus that they start creating screen prints to use with paper crafting.  So, when I saw this kit, I knew my wishes came true!
The kit comes with a tube of Color Theory paint (and you know how much I love that!) which works perfectly with the screen prints.  You can also use other mediums such as ink.  The screen print itself is tacky on the back, allowing it to stick to whatever surface you're working with (paper, fabric, etc.)  You can just spread the paint using an old credit card (or turn an inkpad upside down & apply color that way) & then rinse the screen print off in the sink.  It can be used over & over.

Personally, I want to try my hand at making a t-shirt with it.  I definitely want to use it on paper too, but I can't wait to try it out with fabric paint & make wearable art.

Did you see that there are NEW Color Theory ink pads?  The bundle is available now... and I'm personally in love with Purple Rain.  Sigh...
I made several projects using the Poet Society card kit, along with some of the new stamp sets released this month.
I'm not going to lie - I've been playing with this card ever since I made it.  I love interactive cards, & this Rocket set was crying out to be made into a spinner card.  The rocket can move & spin along the planet orbit.  It's SO fun!

I'll be sharing a tutorial on the SC blog later on how to make one.  I used the digital stamps, but the traditional stamps would work great too!

And how great is this space patterned paper?!?  It's just one of the 23 designs from the Card Kit paper pad.  The kit photo above just doesn't do it justice.  The colors are so much more vibrant!
Here's a card I made using just the Card Kit.  When I saw the wood veneer pieces, I immediately thought "farm fence" & went from there.  The huge "hooray" stamp is just awesome!  I think it's going to come in handy for so many projects in the future.

I love having a Silhouette because I was able to cut out these sheep with it to create the scene.  I just hand-cut the grass & all of the paper is from the kit.

This sparkly gem card was also made from the Card Kit. I wanted some bright pops of color, so I heat embossed the stamped images first onto vellum & then painted the gems with Color Theory acrylic paint.  I added some glitter just to jazz it up a bit more.
So... let me tell you about some of the new stamp sets released this month.

This Cactus stamp set makes this succulent lover's heart go all pitter-patter.  And that sentiment???  So fun!
One of my favorite sets this month is the Back to School stamp by Suzy Plantamura.  I love anything school related (see previous post for evidence.)  There are so many teachers in my family (my mom, mother-in-law, sister-in-laws, aunts, cousins...) and school themed products are great for making little gifts for them, especially during the holidays.
I also like making little gifts for our kids' teachers, principles, secretaries... so you can see, these products get a lot of use.

For this project, I made a Post-it note cover out of cardstock, paper, & stamps.  I added a tiny bit of Velcro just to help it close.
Tiny cards are always great to have on hand!  You can pack them in a lunch box or attach them to a simple brown lunch bag to make adorable gift packaging.
I had a tiny square bound album in my craft stash that I converted into an Instagram album.  I can just print pictures that I've posted during this school year & pop them inside!
If you love school themed products, you'll also love this card set by Shanna Noel.  They're perfect for Project Life®, but they would be great for greeting cards too.  I might even want to frame that little bottle of glue.  Oh my gosh.  Crazy cuteness overload!

I hope you've enjoyed seeing the kits in action.  You can find all of this month's new releases here.
