Trendy Trios Card Making Video: Wood

As the days get shorter & the temperatures start falling, I start thinking about warm cups of coffee, sweaters, & all things cozy. I thought it would be fun to focus on a trend this month that fits in perfectly with the season. This month's trend is all about wood.
There are tons of beautiful woodgrain papers & accessories in the Two Peas shop, not to mention all of the real wood embellishments that are so trendy these days!

In this video, I'll show you how to create three projects using this trend. We'll be learning new tricks to use with the Silhouette, customizing paper frames & adding pops of color to real wood accents. I hope you enjoy this month's class!

You can find all of the supplies used to make these projects here.

I used one of the new holiday printables as the starting point for this card.  I love using my Silhouette to make customized elements for my projects.
This next card was SO much fun to make!  The fox wood veneers are exclusive to Two Peas & are crazy adorable.
I painted these paper frames to coordinate.  It's easy to do & adds a great pop of color.
This card is probably my favorite.  I love the deep woodrain paper against the stained veneer.
I used some of the new Printshop rub-ons for the sentiment & to create the starry "sky" above.

I hope you have some fun with woodgrain & wooden embellishments this month.  Be sure to upload them to the Two Peas gallery to be entered into the prize drawing!  One lucky participant will win a Two Peas gift card.

Trendy Trios: Triangles {video}

This month at Two Peas, our focus is on shapes.  Who knew shapes could be so cool!?!  (Check out all of these trendy scrappy goodness!)

I had a lot of fun playing with shapes in this month's Trendy Trios video!  Triangles are hot, hot, HOT right now & there are a million different ways to use them.

In my trio of cards, I used stamps, masks, die cuts, washi tape & embellishments... all with the central theme of triangles. - And that's just scratching the surface of what you can do with this simple shape.

You can watch the video below or directly on YouTube.

Here are the projects featured on my video.  You can find all of the supplies used & lots of other amazing triangle-themed products by clicking here.

I kind of flipped when I saw this doily die cut from Maggie Holmes.  It's just the most gorgeous color... and the triangle die-cuts in the center frame this sentiment perfectly!

I also discovered that Maggie's washi tape sheet makes a pretty cool transparent accent when trimmed just right.

This one is packed with triangle goodness.  :)  I love the triangle mask & it looks so cool in person with the Mister Huey's Shine mist.  The triangle stamps & banners were another Studio Calico "triangle find."  Triangle banners?!?  Doubly trendy!  That hand-written font from this SC stamp set just rocks, btw.

And I can't fail to mention this polka-dot preppy horse rub-on by Dear Lizzy.  I wish I had 5000 of them.  I love them that much.

And last but not least, how cute is this elephant die-cut from Glitz Designs?!?  I tied a little string on his trunk.  He's forgetful sometimes, you see?

People seem to be freaking out about stitching wood veneer with their machines.  ;)  I promise - no machine was injured during this video production.  The key is to take it slow.  If you look closely, the stitches actually go around each section of the letters, hugging them in place.  If you pierce through them, there's a good chance they'll split because they are so narrow & delicate.  I have, however, sewn right through larger wood veneer pieces with no trouble at all.

Thanks for taking a peek at my projects!  I had so much fun creating them & I hope you'll give triangles a try on your next project.  :)

A Mod Christmas

I can't believe there are only 2 weeks until Christmas!  Eek!  I wish the holiday season could last longer.  I've been having a blast creating & decorating.

My latest project was this mod Christmas card.  It all started with this fun starburst block of paper from Studio Calico's new Darling Dear collection.  (There is actually a #1 in the center, but the tree hides it nicely.)  The colors & images from this collection are just so different than anything I've worked with... and I LOVE it!

I cut out a tree using my Silhouette Cameo (using a geometric print from Crate Paper) & topped it with some wood veneer from the Darling Dear collection.  The rhinestones from this collection are so, so awesome!  The shape is really unique & I'm going to have to stock up.  :)

I spelled out the sentiment using alphabet stamps. I love the slim, modern feel of the font.

Thanks for taking a peek!  I hope you're enjoying the holiday season as much as I am.  :)

Lawn Fawn Inspiration Day #1: Winter Owl

Welcome to day #1 of Lawn Fawn's Inspiration Week!  Today the team is sharing projects made with the adorable Winter Owl stamp set.

I had some new Crate Paper Acorn Avenue goodies sitting on my desk that were begging to be used.  The pinked journaling card reminded me of the Fancy Pants filter paper embellishments that I had stashed & I layered them behind my image.  Love it when I can find a good home for products that have been collecting dust for a bit.  ;)

Make sure to visit the Lawn Fawn blog to find out how you can win each of the stamp sets featured this week.  You'll also find a fun video & inspiration from all of the design team.

You can find all of the supplies used to create this card below. (P.S. Thank you to those of you who have been shopping by clicking on my affiliate links.  I earn a small portion from each sale & that goes to help support my family & this blog.)
