Sneak Peeks & A Gift For You From Studio Calico

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen glimpses of what I've been working on for the upcoming Bluegrass Farm release for Studio Calico.

Here's a peek at the stamp set in the card kit.  I wanted some really rich, bold images & decided to try using letterpress ink instead of traditional dye inks.  Oh.  My.  Goodness!  I was so excited about the results!  Not only are the colors completely saturated & gorgeous, but they're extremely blendable, making it easy to create some unique color combinations.

 

Let me be really straight with you though.  Letterpress inks are much different than traditional inks.  They're thick & waxy & a tiny drop goes a LONG way.  You don't want to get out your supplies for just one single image.  This technique is great for when you want to mass produce.  (Think multiple cards or a stationery set, etc.)

And the inks don't clean up with soap and water.  As I mentioned earlier, they're waxy and thick.  But, I found a great cleaning solution that makes cleanup a breeze!  Just dip an old toothbrush into Goo Gone & lightly scrub over your inked stamps/brayer/acrylic blocks.  It removes the letterpress ink completely!  I then rinsed with water & voila!

Here's a peek at one of the finished products:

I had a little extra green ink & didn't want to waste it, so I applied it to a piece of white cardstock.  It ended up coming in really handy!  I die cut it using the soon-to-be-released Wonky Diamond Background die & it made the perfect fruit basket!

I'll share more sneaks with you this week, but I think you're going to really love the kits this month.  I might be partial because this months' kits are EXACTLY my style, but I think the kits are going to sell out in a flash.  They're some of my favorites of all time!
