There are certain images that just pull at my heart-strings. I absolutely love embroidery hoops. I'm not sure what the fascination is. Maybe it reminds me of simpler times... or maybe I'm just naturally magnetized to anything that symbolizes "handmade." I found this hoop shape in the Silhouette store & knew I would put it to good use. I love the little stitching lines that are part of the cut-out! I know I've mentioned this before, but the Cameo cuts so perfectly! I love that machine!
If you notice below (in my supply list), the hoop shape comes just as one solid piece. To create a wooden hoop AND a "fabric" interior, I simply added a circular cut line before I cut out my craft cardstock. (I cut out my ledger paper regularly & then glued my altered kraft section on top.) I love that the Silhouette will allow you to alter designs so easily!
The paper & buttons are from October Afternoon's Farmhouse collection. The ribbon is actually part of Crate Paper's Peppermint Trims - but you would never know it was a holiday ribbon!
I finally got to use one of my favorite stickers from the Amy Tangerine Remarks Sticker set! I love silhouettes & I love woodgrain... so the combo is pretty awesome in my book!
I am also REALLY loving these scripted words by Ali Edwards. (They're part of a stamp set from Technique Tuesday.) I only wish my own handwriting looked so pretty!

gorgeous card!!!
ReplyDeleteLove this Julie! I am also in LOVE with embroidery hoops! My mom did cross stitch when I was younger and it's very nostalgic for me. Beautiful colors and I love those shapes! Might need to download the hoop tonight. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh my! I love embroidery hoops, also! My Me-maw's hoops are now mine, and I love them dearly! Your card is absolutely beautiful, Julie! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLove what you did with the hoop & silhouette! Great job.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this, Jules! I'm a big fan of embroidery hoops, too, as I used to be an avid cross-stitcher in college and law school. Pre-kids, of course. Haven't completed anything since I finished Truman's birth sampler... I keep saying I'm going to get one made for Carter. Maybe by the time he turns 21... ;) Anyway, I literally squealed when I saw your card on my google reader this a.m. and MUST have that hoop shape! Maybe it will actually make me learn how to use my dang Silhouette Cameo. Have a good day, gf!
ReplyDeleteOHHHH! I just love this! I love the die cut--totally need to get that image! Wish I had a cameo--I have a Cricut and KNK! Maybe soon I can save up enough money! LOL!
