Hip Hop! Scandinavian Chip Art Ornament + a BIG Sale!

*Don't forget to check out the post below for your chance to win some great Unity stamps!

You're going to LOVE this week's Hip Hop theme!  The Unity & Ippity girls are posting Christmas projects for kids & holiday ornaments.  It's going to be a very merry hop! :)

The idea for my project today came from the folksy flower found in this month's KOM:
I love the look of Scandinavian holiday decor & thought I'd try to recreate it myself by altering a chipboard snowflake.

I pulled out some of my Chip Art tools (by Melody Ross) and stamped "God Jul", (which means "Merry Christmas").  If you look really closely, you'll see some flower images debossed around the snowflake's edges.

I used a mixture of red paint, Mod Podge & spray mists to get the finished product.  Then, once everything was nice & dry, I stamped the folksy flower image & paper pieced the details.  I added one more coat of Mod Podge for good measure & misted/antiqued some baker's twine to top it off.

Have you been to the Unity blog yet?  I am SO excited because there are SO many new sets available for purchase ON THE UNITY SITE!  You'll also find TONS of stamps for sale, along with FREE SHIPPING!  I'm so excited about the new co-branded stamps that are now available!

  7. Oh what a gorgeous snowflake! I read your blog but hardly ever (maybe never before) pop out to say hi :) It's funny, but I just did a post on snowflakes too... and here I am, hopping around, and everyone is into snowflakes too! Neat coincidence :) Let it snow! (I feel pretty dumb because out of all of you, I'm probably the only one who's NEVER seen snow in my whole life, LOL!) ...

    hugs,
    Viola
