Nesting Dolls Tag

I am so excited that 'folk' design is starting to become trendy again! I don't know what it is about it, but it just makes me all warm and fuzzy! I've been seeing Russian nesting dolls popping up here and there on Etsy and on some online fabric stores and was SO excited to see these images for the first time as a stamp! I was at Archivers the other day and saw these clear images by Hero Arts. (I'm still crossing my fingers that my friend Kim Hughes will draw some up for a set one day! I think her's would be THE ultimate nesting doll design! Mmmm! Can't you just see it now?!?)

I wanted to try something different, so I stamped this image directly onto Claudine Hellmuth's Sticky-Back Canvas & then added color with Copics. Just to antique it a bit, I sponged Tea Stain Distress ink on top of the canvas. This stuff is really fun to use! I can't wait to play around with it a bit more!
If you'd like to see this tag a bit closer, please click on the picture above. I added a little Jenni Bowlin floral embellishment to her hair. :) And... I added stitching everywhere!

I found TONS of Martha Stewart ribbon on clearance at Michaels for 50 cents each! Whoot!!! The 'skirt' of this tag was made by some of the wide ribbon. I just kept gathering it together as I sewed. And... to top it off, I ripped a strip of my son's jeans to embellish it more. (Don't be scared! He wore a HUGE hole in these pants months ago, and I've been using bits and pieces of it here and there. I think I've gotten more use out of them than he did!)

Thanks for checking out my tag! :)
