Teacher Gift Set

My sister just finished her last semester of schooling & will soon be an Elementary teacher. She needed a gift set in a hurry to give to her host teacher where she's been student teaching. As a struggling college student, she needed something friendly on the budget, so we came up with this gift set. We covered a tin can to create a pencil holder, created a bookmark from a large paperclip, & made a bound desk calendar out of coasters!

I'm really excited about this desk calendar! For those of you who haven't heard, A Muse creates a 16 month calendar every fall that is a downloadable product after a minimum $4 donation. Proceeds from the sale of the calendar will be donated to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society! It's a wonderful fund-raiser & the calendars are so handy! It also includes a Perpetual Calendar, which is great to keep up with birthdays, anniversaries, etc.! I have several 4" x 4" coasters in my craft stash & used them to make the front & back covers. But... if you don't have these coasters yet, just bring home a few disposable coasters from a restaurant! :) For $4, you can feel good about contributing to a great cause AND create gifts for all of your friends & coworkers this holiday season! I used my Bind-it-all to bind the calendar at the top, and the chipboard is heavy enough to allow it to free stand on a desk top. I left my pages blank on the inside, but you could easily stamp and decorate each month if you wanted.

This is the card that I made to coordinate with my Teacher Gift Set. It's SUPER simple, but the Lined Paper BG stamp (by Cornish Heritage Farms) doesn't need a lot of additional stamping to make it look good!

I found these large paperclips in the office supply area at Walmart! Just sandwich the clip between two scalloped squares and adhere! I added a blob of Glossy Accents around the paperclip just to really cement it in. Voila! Instant bookmark!

Nestabilities Storage

How many of you own Spellbinder's dies - but are looking for an easy, space-saving way to store them? I am super excited about this storage that I came up with & wanted to tell you about it!

Supplies I Used:
- Adhes-A-MAG magnet roll (I found this at Michaels & used my 40% coupon)
- Chipboard backing from paper packs (the 12 x 12 cardboard-like piece companies place in packages of scrapbooking paper)
- Bind-it-All & 5/8" coil
- Scrapbooking paper, cardstock, stamps, etc --- (anything you want to use to make your storage pretty)
Steps:

  1. Cut 9 chipboard pieces to size. (The size will depend on what size of dies you have. Give yourself a little "margin room" on each side + about 1/2" extra room for the top so that you have room for binding)
  2. Cut 8 adhesive magnet sheets the same size and adhere to ONE side of the chipboard. (If you have magnet sheets on both sides, the dies will not stay in place.)
  3. Decorate the remaining chipboard piece to create your cover. Add patterned paper to back side.
  4. Add patterned paper to 1 chipboard/magnet panel. This will be your back cover.
  5. Bind

This will make a booklet that will hold 8 sets of dies. My book below contains all of my regular & petite oval dies. (Small & Large Ovals, Small & Large Scalloped Ovals, Small & Large Petite Ovals, & Small & Large Scalloped Petite Ovals)

Below is a pic of what my dies look like now. I REALLY like having all of my dies in one spot like this. Now I just need to buy some more magnet sheets so that I can make more books to hold all of my other dies! :)

Please let me know if you have any questions! :)

Kinkade Christmas Box

I've been saving some packaging from Target's Archer Farms line because I loved the unique shape! You know you're a seriously addicted paper crafter when you start saving food boxes. (insert rolling eyes) This week's CHF Chick's challenge was to make a Holiday Gift. I love packaging my gifts in creative ways & this box gave me my inspiration. :)

I took the box apart and used it as a template to cut my cardstock. After layering on some Cosmo Cricket paper & a Kinkade image that I colored... this box was totally transformed! To open the box, simply untie the ribbon!

I wanted to show you a close up of this image, but my camera is just not able to pick up the details. It's actually much clearer in person & soooo sparkley! I used Glossy Accents to cover the pond & it's so shiny and slick. (you're going to have to trust me on this one) :)

Make sure to check out the other designer's blogs to see some great holiday gift ideas!!!

Robotic Birthday

Happy Monday! :) Today's CHF Chick Challenge was to use Brilliance inks. This is how 'sick' I am with this craft. I didn't know if I had any of this type of ink... so I started looking through my ink shelf and discovered that I had 5 of them. Geesh! One of them was called Platinum Planet & that name is what inspired me to make this card. "Planet.... outer space... robots... machines" (just in case you wondered how my crazy brain works.) ;)

So.... I found this robot paper that I've been saving for a rainy day - pulled out my Little Guy set to get my robot stamp - and then remembered that I had a perfect new backgrounder that was just waiting to get inked up! The Circuit Board BG stamp is SO cool! I love the effect it gives when stamped onto black CS using the Platinum Planet inkpad. (This background stamp will be released Tuesday, November 4th by CHF!!!)

To pull of my supplies together, I searched my 'sites' and found a new CPS sketch. If you're ever stuck and need something to get your creative juices flowing, try out a sketch challenge! :) It always makes card making so much simpler for me!

New Stamp of the Month

I can't believe it's already NOVEMBER! Yikes! I must be getting old! Time is going by way too fast! So... since it's November, I want to tell you about Cornish Heritage Farms new Stamp of the Month - called Ornaments of Joy. This is a new image designed by Aimee Nugent and is sooo pretty! And, throughout the month, this stamp sells for $3.49 (unmounted) & $5.99 mounted. Talk about a bargain!!!! Seriously!

I have a few samples so far that I wanted to show you. The first one uses the SOTM image stamped with a glue pad and glittered to match this yummy paper by Making Memories. The stamped panel is on vellum & is sandwiched between the cardstock layers to create a window (even though you can't tell from the pic.)

SUPPLIES:
Stamp:
- November SOTM (Ornaments of Joy) by Cornish Heritage Farms
Ink:
- Essential Glue pad by Tsukineko
Cardtock:
- Black Prism CS
Printed Paper: - Red Glittered Poinsettia: FaLaLa by Making Memories
Accessories: - Black organdy ribbon (Michaels) - Wassail brad by Basic Grey - Nestabilities square dies - Fire Truck Red Art Glitter

For my second project, I glittered the SOTM image using some of the salvaged glitter that my son enjoys getting into. (For those of you who haven't heard my stories of torment... my 3 yr. old loves to be "crafty". On this occasion, I had just opened a box of beautiful assorted ultra fine glitter and came back to find all of them dumped onto the carpet. My son said he was cooking. Errr!) I think this is a mixture of red, pink, and blue... but it's hard to tell. Smile It actually coordinates really well with my paper! LOL!

SUPPLIES:
Stamp:
- November SOTM (Ornaments of Joy) by Cornish Heritage Farms
Ink:
- Essential Glue Pad by Tsukineko
Paper: - Snowy Jo line by Imaginisce
Accessories:- Art Glitter (assortment) - Twine rope by SU! - small chipboard box - felt

I love making holiday cards with non-traditional colors! Smile I just discovered this new paper by Crate Paper and didn't want to only use it for fall! (This sketch is from Jen del Muro's SFYTT this week.) I had a small chipboard ornament that I coated in about 6 layers of chocolate scented embossing powder. (Yum!) To make it look more like the ornament in the stamp, I added a rub-on swirl right on top of the chocolate... I mean embossing powder. Smile
