A Dino-Mite Color Challenge

Did you know that CHF has a weekly color challenge? I'd love to have you join us! This week's colors are Prism's: Papaya Puree Dark, Nautical Blue Light, & Spring Willow Dark & were inspired by the Archaic Line by Basic Grey.

Did you notice the silver edging on my dino circle? I used my Krylon silver leafing pen (now on sale at CHF!) and it looks just like those metal edged tags I use to buy all the time. :)

Lonely?

Ever feel like you're all alone in this word? I know I've struggled with this emotion quite a bit recently. Just when I thought my husband was finished with school/coaching... he signed up for another summer coaching position. And then... the day before THAT was suppose to be over, he was asked to coach an All-Star team. It doesn't sound that bad... but this is a BIG commitment (that's all voluntary, may I add). :) It wouldn't be as terrible if it was all local sports, but my hubby is driving 1-2 hours each way for each practice/game. And now there is out-of-state travel involved. And then, when he IS home, there are always LOTS of phone calls (his phone bill last month alone was over $300 if that tells you anything)... and strategising... and, and, and. It's been really hard. I understand the word "lonely" on many levels. My husband & I are such opposites and our 'needs' are TOTALLY different. He would be perfectly content being gone 99% the time... but I need the emotional support & physical support with raising two young boys.

So... Sunday at church, I look over and see a women who's husband is overseas. They were just married last October and he's from England. I guess he hasn't been able to obtain citizenship here in the US yet and was required to return to his home country. When I looked at this woman's face.... the loneliness was oozing out of her.

Have you ever noticed how much more you hurt for someone after experiencing hurt yourself? Even though our situations are not the same.... I understand that pain. I think that's probably one reason why we're allowed to go through trials and hard times. If we didn't, how would we ever be able to empathize with others?

As I was making this card, I was reminded that even when we feel lonely and deserted, there is always one who is there for us! Even though our eyes can't see Him, He's there watching over us! "I will NEVER leave you or forsake you..." It still isn't easy... but I hope it encourages her a little bit. And... I pray God makes a way for he husband to come back home soon.

This layout is based off of a sketch by Jen del Muro for her weekly SFYTT... and is also for the Ways to Use it Challenge this week at Splitcoaststampers (the challenge was to use birds on your cards).

A Welcome Dove

My pastor approached me the other day and wanted to know if I would be interested in making 'welcome' cards for new visitors to the church. He said that really liked how home-made cards were so much more meaningful than a Hallmark card... and wanted to include a small gift card in the inside. I told him that he was speaking my language! Sign me UP!

I saw some similar ideas on Splitcoast and needed something REALLY simple and came up with my version of this gift card holder. The ribbon unties to open the card.

Tom Allen & a Sale

Happy Saturday, everyone!! We went to an Indianapolis Indians game with the boys and a group from church last night and didn't' get home until after 1 am this morning! I'm getting too old and just don't function well without sleep! LOL! I wanted to post a couple more of my Tom Allen Kritters yesterday in lieu of their release... but I just didn't get to it until today.

SO, without further ado (is that how you spell that???).... here are the new Kritters on the farm (along with some CUTE new sentiments)! Did you know that you can now purchase the Friendly Kritters images UNmounted?!? I love this option because it saves space and $$$$! And... the unmounted images are already placed on smart cushion for you - trimmed and ready to go! Meaning... you don't have to mess with the goo and hassle of mounting them onto cushions like many other company's unmounted images. All you have to do is peel the protective backing off and place it onto your acrylic pad. LOVE IT!

Oh... and if you act quickly, everything in CHF's store is 10% off (sale prices are good today and Sunday only... June 21 & 22)!!! You do not need a special code for this offer & it applies to only internet orders. All of the prices are already marked with the discount. Also -- Kim Hughes' new Paradise Found sets are back in stock today. I'm going to definitely get some of the Simply Smooth cardstock that just came in. I hear it's WONDERFUL and takes ink perfectly with the fine detailed images too! I can't wait to try my Copics with it! Make sure you take a look at the Prismatic cardstock that's in the store too! I {heart} my Prism!!! :)

So.... would you like to see some more samples of the new Tom Allen images? Here you go! :)

Just a quick post.... I have to get up in a few hours for work. :) This is my card for today's sketch challenge from Splitcoast, using another new image that will be released this Friday on the farm. These image are really easy to color! Think of it like cross stitching -- it's not hard, but it does take time. And like I said before - it's therapeutic! Let me know if you need any help coloring these images! I'd be happy to help!

Friendly Mice & Some Videos

This Friday marks another release for 2 new images + sentiments from Tom Allen's Friendly Kritters Collection. For those of you who know me... you know I have a terrible phobia of mice! I wasn't sure I was going to like this new image... but after I saw it, I started falling for these little rodents. They're just so stinkin' cute, it's hard not to love them! And... I LOVE coloring these images with my Copics! It is seriously great therapy! :) And they're so detailed that it makes it super easy to color! All of the work is done for you!

Below is a close up of the main image. I masked the stamped image and used my Copic Airbrush to finish it off.

The Heat is On!

Happy Monday! My son -Eli- turned 7 this weekend and has been asking to go to Holiday World for the past 11+ months. :) This is a fun little amusement park that's only a few hours away that we go to every year to celebrate his birthday. Thank goodness they have a huge water park, because it was H-O-T this weekend!!!

This is a picture (below) of Eli at the end of the day... covered in vanilla ice cream. He's so worn out and has no idea what we're all laughing at. :)

Now.... moving onto something else that's H-O-T...............

Today’s challenge at Cornish Heritage Farms is to use scented embossing powders or heat.
I found these acrylic blocks a few months ago in Target's Dollar Spot and knew I would eventually find a use for them. I have some YUMMY coffee scented embossing powder from CHF and thought it would be fun to make a coffee coaster set! (Oh! And btw, scented embossing powders are on sale this week on the farm!!!)

A couple of the other girls got their 'Heat On' too! Make sure you check out these blogs!

Release Day!

I wanted to post a picture of the new 'Big Inspiration' set that was released today on the farm! These words can definitely hold their own! :) They're perfect for cards, scrapbooking, and home decor!!! The release of Sassy Petites has been delayed until next month, so look for it in the next Mona Lisa Moments release in July! :)

BIG News!

Cornish Heritage Farms is releasing two new stamp sets on Thursday that are going to be BIG hits! Make sure you visit the farm to see Big Inspiration and Sassy Petites from the Mona Lisa Moments Collection.

I found this BIG notebook in the clearance section at target ($1.79 Baby!) and thought it would make a GREAT inspiration journal. I'm going to fill it with card sketches, magazine clippings, those random ideas that come to me in the middle of the night, color combinations, pub calls, etc. I think it will really help to inspire my creativity!

I randomly stamped words from the Sassy Petites set on the stripes on the front of the journal (see below). And I LOVE these HUGE sentiments from the Big Inspiration set!

This is a card that I made for the KH limited supplies challenge going on today:

The main image was stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with clear EP. I sponged chalk ink over the entire piece and then gently wiped off the ink over the embossed area. The patterned paper really pops!

I couldn't find a real baby diaper pen, so I used a regular safety pin and heat embossed the top with chocolate brownie scented EP. (YUM!)

They're Here!

Today is the release of Cornish Heritage Farm's new Scrapblocks™ images! Five scrapblocks are being released now and two will be released every following month. These 6" x 6" stamps are perfect for the scrapbooker, the cardmaker (making square cards are so easy now!), or any crafter!

I needed a cover for my checkbook and thought something bright and cheery would make paying my bills a little more fun. ;) This is a super easy project and is a perfect size for using the new Scrapblocks™ image! The whole thing is basically only 3 pieces. (one large rectangle for the outside and 2 smaller rectangles for the pockets in the inside) I stamped directly onto my large rectangle with white ink just to give the outside a little more design and whimsy.

I made the button with a little button kit that you can find in any fabric store. The checkbook cover is secured by an elastic hair tie that wraps around the button (one end is tucked and sewn under the binding). I stamped directly onto a scrap of white fabric - heat set - and then colored in my bird image carefully with Copics.

Robot Love

Happy Monday! :P Today's CHF Challenge Chicks' Challenge was a color challenge issued by Lori Craig. They are some of my favorites, so I was really excited to get going on this project!

Prismatic Cardstock Colors:

- Tawny Light

- Classic Red

- Iced Teal

I'm having a blast with my new Krylon leafing pens! They make everything they touch 'turn to metal"! I colored in my large gear and lined my light blue panel with the silver pen.

*To make a gear - trace circular image onto back side of cardstock. Draw 'gear edges' and trim. Color cardstock with Krylon pen. Cut and emboss black circle using Nestabilities die and adhere to center of 'gear'.

Make sure you check out what the other girls created using these fun colors!

-Michele

- Becky

I'd love to see what you come up with! Please join us and upload to your blog and the CHF gallery! If you don't have that particular shade of Prism yet, feel free to substitute for something similar.
