Do something that SCARES you!

A couple of weeks ago, Prettie Girl Joanne issued a SPOOKY challenge! She double dog dared us to create something using some crafting supplies that we've been avoiding and too scared to use. I don't know about you, but sometimes I get into a rut! I almost always make a standard sized card (5.5 x 4.25) and sometimes break out and make a square card. But.... I've had these LARGE Martha Steward card bases and kept putting them aside. A big card? Me? Well... Joanne MADE me do it... and you know what? I actually LIKED making a big card for once!

Last Friday was ALSO Joanne's birthday! So I made this BIG card for her BIG day! I used my new Eat Cake set from Papertrey Ink!!! This set is SO versatile! I "needed" it! LOL! It is created in a way to allow stamping the images in layers... making it easy to add LOTS of fun colors!

I stamped the cake, added red Stickles to make the icing sparkly... and then stamped "happy" repeatedly to create a border. Then I stamped "birthday" in red and added more sparkle with a Copic Spica pen! I created a row of birthday candles along the bottom of the card and added... Yes! You guessed it! More sparkle!!!

I died my ribbon with a Copic marker to match. This is SO awesome because now I ALWAYS can have accessories that perfectly match! Love it!

Hope you get out of your comfort zone today too and use something that SCARES you! Check out what spooked the other Pretty Girls too! (See my sidebar for all of the links!!!)

Happy 'Boo!' thday

My son has dressed up like Spiderman for the past 2 years. He thought that the third time would be a charm... but I was ready for something else. So... I asked him if he would rather be Spiderman or a Lego -- his eyes lit up! (He is totally obsessed with Legos). And then of course, my 2-year old insisted that he needed to be a Lego too. I couldn't get him to stand still... so this is the best pic I could get so far. He was totally wound up... (and that's before candy!)

So... if you're desperate for a costume and need something quick... here's what you do:

  • Cut the bottom out of a box.
  • Add holes for the head and arms
  • Hot glue small food containers to the front of the box (I used small Ziplock brand bowls)
  • Spray paint box (I used Krylon's paint that is recommended for painting plastic and it covered the bowls very well.)
I'll try to post the two boys together tomorrow. I've still got to make the second costume. I need to hurry up!

My nephew - Blake's - birthday falls on Halloween. I sent him this spoooooky card using one of C.C. Designs' adorable Halloween stamps. He's colored with Copic markers. I wish you could see the card irl. His hair and pumpkin are all sparkly from my Spica pens! (love them!!!) The sentiment is from SU's Booglie Eyes set. I just added some letters to create what I wanted it to say.

Hope you have a Spooktacular Day!!!!

Who Knew I Was So Interesting? ;)

I've been tagged by Julie & Julee (anyone see a strange pattern going on here?) to spill the beans! Want to know all of my juicy secrets? Well... here you go!

So, here are the RULES:

ONE - Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
TWO - On your blog, share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself.
THREE - Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs. (I am going to pass on this one! If you want to play, consider yourself TAGGED!)

1. Growing up, everyone in my family had a name that started with "J". (Jack, Joanie, Jeff, Jason, Jenna, & me (Julie).

2. When I was in the second grade, everyone in the class was asked to draw a picture of what they would be when they grew up. I drew a picture of me as a pediatric nurse. How did I even know what that was?!? I have been working as a Registered Nurse at a children's hospital for 9 years.

3. I once was electrocuted by a overly-charged electric fence. My muscles were spasming and my older brother saved my life by pulling me off of it. I still have a small scar on my face from the fencing.

4. I once was held by knife-point in a bathroom stall when I was a kid.

5. I had no pain during my labor with my oldest child (even without medication!) I paid for it with my second child though! Ouch!

6. I am highly skilled at milking goats.

7. I have held the skull of an alive person in my hands, watched the beating heart in the chest of a newborn, and (well... let's just say I've seen/done a LOT of things in my career. Don't want to totally gore you out!)

Wish!

Sorry it's been a few days since my last post! I've been busy celebrating my birthday! On Thursday, I went out to dinner with some of my family. I didn't care WHERE we went, as long as they served warm choclate lava cake and vanilla ice cream! Yum!!!! I had to work on Friday (I had the worst day I've ever had there and had such a splitting headache, I couldn't do much of anything when I came home). And then... Saturday, my husband took me out on a surprise date.

My niece, Nikki, celebrated her 14th birthday earilier this month. And... since I am such an awesome aunt -- I totally forgot about it until it was my birthday! So, this one was sent about a week too late. Really nice since my biggest hobby is making cards! Too bad I'm not more organized! Woops!

I wanted to make her something that was 'all grown up'! I can't believe she's a teenager! I remember when my husband & I were first dating and meeting her for the first time. She was just a toddler! And now..... she's turning into a beautiful young woman. It's crazy!

I used some of my stamps from Cornish Heritage Farms' Kim Hughes Collection. These are my new favorite stamps! Love them!!! And this paper is soooooo yummy! I found it at Michaels (K&Co Wild Saffron collection). The fabric brad in the center of the Prima matches the paper too! (This is GOOD stuff! You've got to check it out!) The card sketch comes from CPS (see my side bar!). Ahh! I love a good sketch!

Cards for Cancer

I read about an awesome card drive hosted by Lizzie Anne designs that benefits the organization 'Cards for Cancer'. I've made a few cards... but just realized that the cards are due by Monday! Agh! Hopefully I can get them there in time! I'm such a procrastinator! This has been helpful to me too because I could play with one of my newest Lizzie Anne sets - Christmas in the City!

I stamped the main image (skates) and added color and sparkle with Copic markers and Spica pens. I wish you could see how awesome these little Spica pens really are! I knew the image "needed something"... so I pulled out my Papertrey Ink Borders & Corners set and was thrilled to see that it framed my little skates perfectly! The card edges are "distressed" by using a sponge and Creamy Caramel ink.

This paper is from my newest FAVORITE paper pack that I found at Michaels! It's by K&Co (Wild Saffron Collection). You'll be seeing this paper on my blog A LOT I'm sure! It's all gorgeous! This sketch is for Julee Tilman's Mojo Monday Contest. I really like the layout and I'm sure I'll have to try it out again sometime! The final touch to this card is a piece of Hodgepodge hardware that I slipped on. I like how it resembles the swirls on the skate's laces.

Make sure you check back here again Thursday to see who the lucky winner is of the Rubber Soul stamp set!!!!!

Ewe Hoo!

It's Wednesday!.... and that means another Paper Pretties "Prettie Girl" challenge is on it's way! (ooh! Hope it's not my turn! I'd better go check!) A couple of weeks ago, Charmaine hit us with a BIG challenge --- to use the Bouncing Brayer technique.

Ok. Can I just tell you that this technique and I do NOT get along! I think I wasted 5 sheets of glossy paper trying to make something that resembled what I saw on the tutorial. SO... I just got frustrated and used my scalloped punch to "salvage" part of what I had inked up. Please note* This is NOT what the Bouncing Brayer technique is suppose to look like... so please look at the other girls' blogs to see what we were suppose to accomplish here! LOL!
~ Christie
, Charmaine, Jillian, Joanne, Alli., Julie Masse, and Kristine~

So let me tell you about my little card! :)
I just got this yummy paper from Basic Grey (Mellow Collection) and chose my colors based off of this pattern. The little lamb stamp is one of several adorable animals in this clear set (a Day at the Zoo) from Rubber Soul. I love the sentiment too! It's great for making a card "just because"... and hopefully bringing a smile to the one who receives it!

Since the card was nice and simple, I wanted to "liven it up" a bit with some accessories! I used a piece of my Hodgepodge Hardware to frame the sentiment... but it needed a little something more. So I covered the inside of the Hodgepodge plate with Crystal effects and let it dry for awhile. I placed a piece of blue velvety ribbon to ground the sentiment and to give the card a little softness.

Do you want to play along? Link your creation here for the world to see!

I'm SO Excited!!! I think I'll give away some blog candy to celebrate......

Wow! This is a big week for me! I turn 30 in a couple of days (which I'm fine with). Thirty still seems like a good number to me. Plus, I've been working as a nurse for 9 years (yeah... started young!) I've been married for 8 years... I have 2 kids... I FEEL 30! My twenties have been full. I wonder what the next 10 years will be like.

So... want to know what I'm so excited about? (I don't MIND being 30... but I wouldn't say I am EXCITED about it either) So... this afternoon, I was checking my e-mail and received a letter from an editor. So... my heart starts beating a little faster as I start scanning the message. I had to read it 5 times to make sure I read it correctly. I'm going to be PUBLISHED! Agh! Me?!? It's not going to be for several months, but I'll share info when I can. Agh! Double Agh!

I don't know if any of you have read my "about me" section... but when I created my blog this June, I wrote about some of my goals. One was to become a design team member and the other was to become published. I just can't believe that in 4 months, both of my goals have become a reality. So, now I'm going to set some more goals. My BIG goal is to find a way to turn this passion into a career. I keep asking the "experts" and everyone gives me the same response. Basically... this craft will never be able to replace a "real job" financially unless you create a company or design stamps. I don't plan on doing either... so I'm hoping there is a choice "C". I would love to work for a magazine or papercrafting company... as long as the work involves creativity. I am starving for a job where I can be creative! Does anybody out there need an employee? :)

So... in lieu of beginning to conquer my goals.... I'm going to give away some blog candy! Let's celebrate together! Just leave me a comment on this posting telling me what you would like to see more of on my blog.... or what you would like to see less of. I'm open to ideas! Want to see what you're playing for???

One lucky winner will receive this fabuloso clear stamp set courtesy of Rubber Soul! I'll pick a random winner on Thursday (MY B-DAY!!!). What's the catch? You HAVE to check back on my blog to see if you are the winner! If I don't have a response by Saturday, I'll pick another lucky winner! (Also, make sure you don't leave a comment as 'anonymous' ) Good luck!!!

Happy EARLY Thanksgiving!

Today has been one of THOSE kind of days! Emery (the littlest one) was up all night fighting yet another respiratory infection. "Lucky" for me... he always wants Mom when he's sick --- so I didn't get much sleep either. I finally go him peeled off of me for a few minutes this afternoon and I ran to my craft room for a little stress therapy. Seriously, this craft is my saving grace. I spent about 25 minutes making this little card and I feel SO much better! Ahhh....

-
For those of you who visit my blog regularly, I know you've probably seen a lot of these Wordsworth stick people... but I never get tired of them. There is just something about them. How can so much personality show up in something so simple?
-
I stamped the image and colored her in with Copics, paper-piercing her apron. I LOVE antique aprons! I have several hanging in my kitchen that belonged to my husband and my great-grandmothers. They just reminds me of simpler times. I wanted to mimic this in my card base. I added stitching to the sides and a scalloped eyelet edging to the bottom. I searched for some pumpkin colored ribbon to add to the top of my "apron"... but of course I didn't have anything that really matched. So, I took some wide white grosgrain ribbon and colored it with my Copic marker! Voila! A perfect match! Can I just tell you how much I love Copics?

*** if you look closely, you can see the tiny piercings I made to create "steam" coming from the top of the pie!
-
Ok. I just discovered something FABULOUS! Well, I know other people have already discovered it, but I finally found some Georgia Pacific cardstock at my local Wal-Mart and tried it out with my Copics. I had to try it myself before I was a believer. Now, it's not as "heavy" as Papertrey's White CS (which is my first love)... but it takes the color just as beautifully --- only CHEAPER! I've been going through about a pack of Papertrey CS a month, so this is going to really help me out. I still vow to use the Papertrey CS for my card base. It's just sturdier. But when I stamp & color with Copics and then layer it onto other CS, I think the Georgia Pacific brand will work just fine!
-
I don't know if you've heard, but Paper Pretties is starting a Copic Club and I've been given the daunting task of heading it up! LOL! No, actually I'm really excited about it. I've really worked hard to try to pick essential colors for people who want to see what this Copic craze is all about. Basically, every month (for 6 months) you will receive 6 Copic Sketch markers. I will be demonstrating techniques and projects for the Club Members on the Member's Only site. Also, by signing up to be a club member, you automatically receive all of the other Paper Pretties member's benefits. I also hand select a group of items that coordinate and work well with the Copic markers each month. All of these items are available to club members for 20% off! Each month, the colors that you receive "build upon" previous markers. It's really going to be easier for those who sign up in October so that they will have all of the essentials -- and they won't have to backtrack and pick up colors on their own. Please drop me a line if you have any questions and I would be happy to give you more information.

This & That

This is a posting of mismatched things that I want to share. :) The picture above is a card done by Julee Tilman (I always get messages from people complimenting me on "my" cards, when they are actually made by someone else! It just goes to show that sometimes people don't actually read posts... but like to look at the pictures. I know I'm guilty of this too sometimes! I just want to give credit where credit is due!) :)

Julee sent me this awesome card that uses those fun Wordsworth stick people stamps! (LOVE THEM!) I just love all the details! ... The fringe, the "sheriff" badge... it's all so cute! I also received these FUN glitter pens! I love anything that glitters, so this is such an awesome surprise! I entered a contest on her site -
Verve Visual - and found out that I had won this prize! Yeah!

This is a picture I wanted to share of my two boys. They were being so cute and actually let me take a picture... and they're SMILING! (This can be a big challenge sometimes!) They're getting so big! They're my life -- my heart!

This is a picture of Eli right after he lost his first tooth! (It's in the little baggie) The next morning Eli ran to us and said he could see everywhere that the Tooth Fairy had been! He showed us the 'matching paper' that she pulled out of our printer and the VERY marker that she used to write the note that she left! Can you believe that?!? She's not very sly. I think she had better get a little more clever next time! Apparently, we've got a CSI investigator in the family.

Inspired to Fight for a Cure!

This week's Bloggers Challenge was to be INSPIRED! (and then create something, of course!) I found these yummy Pink Peanut M&M's and the gears started turning. And.. this week's Color Challenge at SCS was to use pink in your project. How perfect!

I bought these cut little tins from Papertrey Ink last month and they were just crying out to be altered! For the lid, I stamped an image from MFT's Think Pink set onto Shimmery White CS. I colored the image in with Copics and used a clear Copic Spica to add even more sparkle to the girls' tops.

The printed paper around the base of the tin is by Basic Grey (Phoebe Collection). I just adhered it with Sticky Strip. The ribbon is beautiful two-toned pink satin that I found at WAL-MART! Can you believe that? I love finding great things that are super cheap!

I stamped "Believe" all across the bottom of the tin (sentiment included in the Think Pink set). I stamped another image onto a "Shrinky Dink" sheet (What ARE these things called? I can't remember for the life of me!), heated, and then added a little color.

I think I might send this to a friend. Hopefully it will bring a little cheer. Everyone loves chocolate, right? Make sure you check out all of the other Bloggers projects to see what inspired them!

*A portion of the proceeds of every Think Pink set goes to help fight breast cancer!

Happy 21st Birthday, Sis!

My baby sister turned 21 this week. I just can't believe it! I remember when she was born! We always called her our 'miracle baby'! I grew up as a middle child in between two brothers. I don't remember ever playing with Barbies or playing dress up... or any of those other 'girly' things. Mostly I remember playing with He-Man, GI Joes, or pro wrestler toys. I use to beg my mom to give me a sister... but she always would tell me that it was impossible. After my younger brother was born, my mom had a tubal ligation. When I was about 6, I started praying every night for a sister. I just wanted someone to play dolls with... someone who didn't always want to wrestle, etc. So... about 2 years later, my parents sat us down at the kitchen table and told us that we were going to have a new addition to the family!

I was so thrilled! I thought for sure we were going to have a foreign exchange student (or something)... but mom and dad told us that they were going to have another baby! So my brothers and I made bets on whether the baby would be a boy or a girl... but I knew deep down that I was going to have a sister.

I remember my dad picking us up early from school one day and telling us that mom had had the baby. He wouldn't tell us what she had and we were dying with anticipation! So we got all gowned up and walked into the hospital room... and there was my mom holding a little bundle of pink! She just looked up at me, smiled and said --- "Julie... I have your baby sister!" I just started crying. I can remember it like it was yesterday!

So before mom left the hospital, she went back in surgery to have a re-do tubal. Four kids were enough in this household! Previously, the surgeon said that occasionally a small regrowth can occur and cause a pregnancy. But when the doctor began the operation, he was really confused. He called in a couple of his colleagues to get their opinion and then later told my mom what they had discovered. He told my parents that he had no explanation as to how they could have conceived my sister. There was no regrowth... and no tissue left to remove. Basically, my sister's birth was a miracle.

My parents told us the report and I walked up to my mom and told her that I had been praying for my sister for 2 years. She really was our miracle baby after all!

So... now my baby sister is 21. I love her with my whole heart... but it's hard to see her all grown up! We look so much alike -- talk exactly alike -- but our personalities are so different! It kind of freaked me out watching her celebrate the big day! You can tell I'm definitely the "older" sister! :) Love you, Jen!

We're in this Together!

Challenges are good for us, aren't they? I've noticed how much I've grown by participating in challenges on SCS and some of my favorite bloggers' sites. The girls at Paper Pretties have been challenging each other with new ideas each week for awhile now, but we decided it would be fun to share what we've been up to with everyone!

Prettie Girl Alli Miles hosted a color challenge for us a couple of weeks ago. (With a group of Americans & Canadians, it takes longer for our projects to mail out) She asked us to make a card using Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Vanilla and Soft Sky.

This is the card I sent to Alli using the new breast cancer "Think Pink" stamp from
MFT. I wanted to show how versatile this stamp set could be. I inked the entire image and then used a damp Q-tip to "erase" the awareness ribbons from the girls' outfits. Since Alli is one of the newest DT members in our group, I wanted to show her how excited we were to have her join us... and to tell her that we were "In This Together!" I stamped a purse from another MFT set (Say Charge).... just to jazz it up a little bit.

Take a peek a the other
DT's blogs (Julie Masse, Kristine, Charmaine, Alli, Joanne, Christie, & Jillian) and see what everyone made using those fabulous colors!!! Last weeks challenge was to use the Bouncing Brayer technique, and we'll be showing off those creations next Wednesday! And finally, this week's challenge is from Joanne - Scare Yourself! *gulp* Yep, take out those stamping/craft supplies that you've been avoiding and make something!

Want to participate with us? Send me a link on this post and have fun!

Wintery Sneek Peak!!!

Ok! So how many of you were crazy like me and stayed up for the Papertrey Release Party? I'm feeling it today! Ouch! Where's my coffee?!? Have you seen their new sets? I ordered the Piece of Cake set... and now see other people's samples with the Snowflake set and wish I had that one too. Oh well! I need to control myself! :)

So what do you think of this new stamp set by MFT? I think it is SO cute! This set is called 'Baby it's Cold Outside' and has not yet been released! If you sign up now for the MFT Paper Pretties Kit Subscription, this is the first stamp set you will receive in the November box!

This card was so simple to make! I made this when I was on my Blue Bayou, River Rock and Chocolate Chip craze. I just ran half of the River Rock CS through my Cuttlebug and added ribbon (from Michaels) to where the different textures met. The main image is colored with SU Classic Pads and an Aquapainter.

Make sure you don't miss my post below about the new Nestability & Copic Clubs being offered at PP!

Bohemian Love

Every week the Prettie Girls from Paper Pretties Design Team are presented with a challenge. Sometimes it's a sketch challenge, sometimes a color challenge... and then we mail our projects out to one of the other girls. It's fun to see what everyone comes up with - and to get something fun in the mail each week! It was my turn to host a challenge, so I sent everyone in the group a frame from Target's Dollar Spot.

This is the frame I made for Jillian Winters. I always am on her blog and have seen these awesome pictures of her and her husband in Maui... so I thought I would try to go with an exotic theme. I've never altered a frame before, but I thought it was a lot of fun. (Well... I have to say, some of the other girls wanted to kill me and through these frames out the window because the painted surfaces are hard to deal with.... but other than that, I think it went over ok) LOL!

I got these fun metal embellishments from my friend Dana and was so excited when the sentiment fit inside a piece of my Hodgepodge Hardware! The blue paper is by My Mind's Eye (Bohemia collection) and the brown patterned paper is by Creative Imaginations.

Please check out the other Prettie Girls' projects as they post this week! (See my side bar for links!)

Double Take!

I just love sketches! (Have I ever mentioned that before?) ;) This week's SCS sketch challenge was really easy, but has a great design! So... I decided to break out my new stamps from Cornish Heritage Farms and try them out!

I love the fonts in the Cute Curls sentiments! I think that's what sold me on this set! I used one of the smaller graphic designs from the set and stamped it repeatedly onto my black CS to create a 'border'. I stamped the little bird image from the Pretty Birds set and didn't think it needed any color added to it. I like it's clean lines stamped in black against the River Rock CS.

The patterned paper is by American Crafts (Sixth Avenue Collection)

This little turkey is Cornish Heritage Farms' Stamp of the Month for October -- and comes with this cute little sentiment! You can get them wood mounted, but I like unmounted these days, so I went with that. I'm running out of storage space in my craft room... and the unmounted version is cheaper. Double bonus! All of my new stamps came with
EZ mount foam already attached. Perfect for using with an acrylic block! *** Oh, and btw, I don't work for CHF, so I promise I'm not trying to 'sell' anything to you! When I find a product/company that I like... I just like to spread the news. :) ***

I stamped this little turkey onto Shimmery White CS and colored him in with
Copics. The paper is also shimmery and comes from KI Memories (Holiday Collection). The ribbon and brads are from Target's Dollar Spot! Gotta love that!

I cut a small strip of patterned paper and adhered it to the right edge of my card for a little detail.

Hope you're all having a great weekend! I think I'm going to sneak a nap in while my kids are asleep!

Ready for the Holidays

This week's Blogger's Challenge was to make an ornament. I found this little wooden ornament (already painted!) for $1 at Hobby Lobby this week. The main image is by Rubber Soul. I just love these little stick carolers! The boys look just like little Pez dispensers! I just paper pieced the carolers' outfits and added color with Copic markers.

I added some fuzzy texture to the girl's accessories with white Fun Flock that I found at Paper Pretties Corner Store. The sentiment is a rub on! I've never used these before, but they're really fun and easy! The mittens charm is by Karen Foster.

This ornament was really fun to make. I'm thinking it might also make a nice gift tag on a holiday package this year. If you want more 'ornament' ideas, check out my Blogger's Challenge list on my sidebar for all the links!

Pucker Up!

The first time I laid eyes on the new Copic Spica glitter pens, I knew I HAD to have the yellow one to use with my Rubber Soul lemonade stamps! It's too bad it doesn't show up in the photo, because these pens do AMAZING things! :) I love glitter and these pens pack a punch!

I love the saying "When Life Gives You Lemons...."! -- And isn't this little lemonade stand the cutest ever? I was flipping through my Garden Variety paper pack and thought this striped paper would be just perfect. I love how Rubber Soul's paper packs coordinate with their colored note cards and envelopes. It just makes it too easy! (and I am NOT complaining!) So, I picked out
Copics that coordinated with the paper and colored in my scene. The pitcher is colored in with the Spica pen and is so sparkly IRL. I masked the lemonade stand and added a little celery shadow.

I used my
SU Word Window punch (punched twice, side-by-side) to create an opening that would fit my sentiment. It just needed a little something... so I stamped the large lemonade pitcher onto a "shrinky-dink" and added it next to the sentiment. I still get such a kick out of heating this stuff up and watching it do it's magic. So fun!

I just couldn't put these stamps down, so I decided to make a card for Julee
Tilman's Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I didn't have any green brads, so I just 'painted' them with my Copic marker.

So... my house is a wreck and I've got a lot of work to do today on my day off. Wish I had a real glass of fresh squeezed

Warm Wishes

See! I told you I loved this color combo! This is a card that I'm sending to Lizzie Anne's Cards for Cancer card drive. I think this little mug is adorable! It's from their Christmas in the City set that I won from Jacksonbelle's blog a couple of months ago.

The mugs are colored with SU Classic Pads and an Aquapainter and then touches of glitter were added with a Copic Spica pen. I thought this Cuttlebug embossing folder looked just like the steam coming off the hot cocoa.

Paper: Chocolate Chip, Blue Bayou, River Rock (all by SU)
Sentiment: Rubber Soul (www.rubbersoul.com)

Comfort & Joy

It seems kind of crazy making a wintery-themed card when it's almost 90 degrees outside! This is the craziest 'fall' I've ever seen!

I combined last week's Splitcoast color challenge and sketch challenge for this card. I love the combo! Blue Bayou, Chocolate Chip & River Rock! Actually, I loved it so much I've been thinking about doing the boy's bathroom in these colors. And... you'll be seeing several more cards in this color scheme this week (I just couldn't help myself!) :)

The Christmas tree stamp is by Rubber Soul called 'Tree Extravaganza' and the sentiment is from their 'Winter Wonderland' set. I love it's little crooked top! I just stamped the tree in brown and added a smidget of color to the needles with chalk.

I used my new Cuttlebug embossing folder to add a little texture. I think I'm going to make several of these! I love the simplicity of it and the way the colors come together!

Cutie BATutie!

This week's Bloggers Challenge was to use "Black & Orange" in our projects. I've always wanted to try one of these nugget boxes and found the tutorial through Julie Tilman's blog this week. This was her Mojo Monday challenge for us. I love it when I can combine challenges and create just one project. Between working, raising 2 little boys, laundry, dishes, etc. --- I have to be creative with my 'free' time! Ok... don't tell... but I had to sample a few of the nuggets in the bag. I need to get rid of the wrappers and hide the evidence! :) You wouldn't want any. They're really not that good... ;) he he he

I was so excited when I covered the nuggets and found that my little 'Boris the Spider' (Rubber Soul) fit perfectly on top! Yea! I used the Booglie Eyes set from SU for the 'Boo' sentiment (just inking the word I wanted with a marker). The bat on the sleeve is also by Rubber Soul (Happy Bat). I added Black Stickles to him to give him a little sparkle. I added a little spritzing of black with my SU marker and Spritzing Tool. I ordered the Copic Airgun system from Paper Pretties and I CAN'T WAIT to get it!!! Yeah!!! It's going to be so cool! Keep your eyes peeled next week for some samples! Oh! And PP's is having a sale this weekend! Check out the post below for the det's!
I used the large Oval Punch from SU for the tag, backing it on black CS. I used some small scalloped scissors to get the edges to look like bat's wings (just hold them backwards to change the shape!) The sentiment is made with KF Snap Stamps. I added some wide black organdy ribbon and some spooky fiber for the final touches.

This was a really fun project and the tutorial was easy to follow! :)

Hi Girlfriend!... & AN ENABLER ALERT!

This is another card I made during Paper Pretties SIYJ virtual stamp night! The challenge was to use Aqua, White, and Craft on our cards. I just love this combo! It's so pretty!

I used my Pompomabella that I received in my Paper Pretties kit this month. She's colored in with Copics and then I added glitter with Stickles and a Sakura pen.

The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Beautiful Bouquet set. I love how you can custom arrange clear stamps on a block to create a different sentiment. Clear stamps are so awesome. :) They make me happy.

The aqua felt flower is by American Crafts (Greenhouse Collection).

And now for the enabling! :)

Chocolates Are a Girl's Best Friend

Last night we had Stampin In Your Jammies (SIYJ) again at Paper Pretties. If you've never heard of SIYJ, basically it's a virtual stamp night for subscribers to the Paper Pretties kits. We do this once a month and have 60 minutes to complete each challenge (we have 3 challenges). Then, the votes are cast and prizes are given away for each category! It's always a lot of fun and the design team gets to play along and hang out with everybody.

Which reminds me of some MORE BIG NEWS!!! We've added a new 'Pretty Girl' (I think that's our new slogan! He He) to our Design Team --- Alli Miles!!!! I just LOVE Alli's creations, and I've been an avid stalker to her blog for a long time now! If you love Alli's work too, go over to her blog and send your congrats!

The card above was the one I created for the sketch challenge last night. I wanted to use my new MFT set (How Sweet it is) but needed a little something to fill up the 'space'. Then I had a light bulb moment!!! I got out my other MFT set (Let's Hear it for the Boy) and started playing. I wanted to use the TV, but it was facing the opposite direction. So... I stamped it on velum, colored it with Copics and carefully cut it out. Then I just flipped it over! Voila! :)

I also used the frame from the Boys set. I added the sentiment, and some other details. I drew the rug on the floor and colored it in.

The sentiment is from the Sweet set. It originally reads "Sisters and Chocolate Make Life Bearable" -- so I just colored the parts that I wanted with a SU marker and added the letter "s" to chocolate with the fine-tip. It makes this sentiment much more versatile.
